Description of the History of International Relations Subprogramme
Following the introduction of the Bologna system's disciplinary training in history (BA, MA), a specialization in the history of international relations has been operating at both levels of education. This specialization has consistently attracted considerable interest. This fact justified the establishment of the doctoral subprogram in the history of international relations, which has been led by associate professor Dr. habil. Róbert Barta since 2012. The teaching staff of the subprogram primarily consists of faculty members of the Department of World History within the Institute of History at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen. However, due to the nature of the PhD research topics included in the subprogramme, such as various international aspects of Hungarian history, colleagues specializing in Hungarian history are also involved as supervisors and lecturers. The subprogram accepts all PhD research topics whose themes align with world history, the history of diplomacy, the global historical interconnections of Hungary and the Central and Eastern European region, as well as the international dimensions of Hungarian and world military history.
